The WSET LEVEL 1 IN WINES course offers elementary theoretical knowledge about wines, including wine service and storage, as well as pairing with food.
It is intended for beginners, who are just entering the world of wine.

Course content:

Introduction to proper tasting and describing wine using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting method.
A theoretical guide to the basics of pairing wine and food.
Preservation and service of wine, as well as recognition of the basic defects of wine.
Recognizing the basic styles of wine.
Getting to know the characteristics of the basic grape varieties and the styles of wine produced from them.

Conditions for attending the course:

No prior knowledge is required to attend this course.
Each candidate must be at least 18 years old at the time of attending the course.

Examination and price:

30 multiple-choice questions, in English.
time allotted for answers: 45 minutes.
minimum number of correct answers to pass the exam: 70%.
before the exam begins, each candidate must show an identity card or passport.
tests are reviewed by the WSET Examinations Directorate.
all candidates who pass the exam receive an official WSET certificate.
Course price: 30,000 + VAT, a total of 36,000 dinars (materials for studying and taking the exam are included in the price).
The deadline for payment of the entire amount is 14 days before the start of the course
Taking the exam in the period immediately after the lecture is included in the course price. There is a fee for taking the exam in one of the following dates.

Examination retaking:

If they do not pass the exam, all candidates have the possibility to retake it in one of the following dates, with prior registration.
Candidates who attended WSET courses in some other centers can also retake the exams at the Balkan Wine Center.
Retaking the exam depends on the availability of places in certain periods, and also implies an additional monetary fee.

Cost of retaking the examination:

Candidates who attended the course at the Balkan Wine Center: 8,000 dinars + VAT, a total of 9,600 dinars
Candidates who attended the course in another center: 10,000 dinars + VAT, a total of 12,000 dinars
In order for the application to be confirmed, the full amount must be paid no later than 5 working days after the online application, i.e. no later than 14 days before the start of the course.

If one of the candidates cancels attendance at the course after the payment has been made, Balkan Wine Center will refund 50% of the amount paid, and only if the cancellation is announced no later than 15 days before the start of the course.

If Balkan Wine Center moves the date of the course less than 7 days before the start of the course, it is obliged to refund the full amount to the candidates if they do not want to attend the course in another term.

All data left in the forms will be used exclusively by Balkan Wine Center and WSET for the purpose of registering for the exam and awarding future qualifications.
